In Conservatorship of the Person and Estate of Norma Farrant, the California Court of Appeal affirmed orders requiring Duane Farrant to repay $63,448.90 to his mother’s conservatorship estate and to pay $121,000 in sanctions after he failed to account for funds he controlled under a power of attorney. The court held that because he exercised control over his mother’s pension and rental income, he could be compelled to provide an accounting and was properly held responsible for misappropriated assets and repeated noncompliance with court orders.
